Polestar, an established name in electric vehicle manufacturing, has released another image of the upcoming Polestar 3 EV-SUV. This will be the brand’s first SUV offering, as well as the first to be manufactured solely in the United States. The news comes after the announcement of their plans to go public on the NASDAQ.
With the premium SUV market experiencing rapid growth within the US, it is also expected that this class of car is the one that will adopt all-electric models the fastest. In response to this, the Polestar 3 makes use of the brand’s SPA2 electric platform. This gives the EV-SUV an estimated driving range of about 370 miles at the least.
The Polestar 3 is being poised to become one of the company’s most climate-conscious cars in production. It will feature cutting-edge technologies such as an autonomous highway piloting system, as well as other means of autonomous driving technology. All these systems are complemented by a high-powered LiDAR sensor that’s sourced from Luminar and computing power support from NVIDIA.
Along with the information on the Polestar 3, the company’s executives have also stated their production plans moving forward. Other than expecting global sales to reach 29,000 vehicles this year, they also revealed an initiative to launch a new vehicle model every year for the next 3 years. Further moves to increase Polestar’s presence in 30 more global markets are also in the works, expected to be completed by the tail-end of 2023.
All this seems to point towards a collective movement to grow the company into a bigger corporate entity. The Polestar 3 will be put on sale by the end of 2022, with pricing currently speculated to be around $75,000. The Polestar 4 and Polestar 5 will arrive in 2023 and 2024, respectively.
