MACHINE PERFORMANCE
Every model of the CR-V works with a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-four gasoline engine, producing 190 horsepower and a torque output of 179 pounds-feet. The engine’s power is routed via a standard front-wheel drive system, but all-wheel drive is available on every model. The continuously variable automatic transmission, or CVT, is present on all of the CR-V models and still offers the same smooth experience as before. The Hybrid models of the CR-V are their own class, trumping the performance of the standalone engine options. The engine mounted is a 2.0-liter inline-four engine that’s aided by two electric motors. This helps it to reach 212 horsepower and a torque output of 232 pounds-feet.
It’s driving experience is still similar to that of the older models, refined and responsive. Riders will experience less overall noise from the engine at low power, making it much quieter during town or city drives. Drivers who are gunning for the quieter option should go for the hybrid, as its reliance on the two electric motors make it much more silent during drives. The steering experience is responsive, but still satisfyingly weighted. It’s not going to be taking tight corners like an athletic sports car, but it still performs strongly and doesn’t take anything away from a comfortable ride experience. The Power-Assisted Ventilated Front and Rear Disc Brakes are present in all models, providing some strong brake power.

The CR-V is quite conservative with its fuel usage, being a great choice for fuel efficiency. All models that have front-wheel drive scored an EPA rating of 28 MPG/City, 34 MPG/Highway, and 30 MPG/Combined. The Touring, being the only one that has all-wheel drive, scored a rating of 27 MPG/City, 32 MPG/Highway, and 29 MPG/Combined. The CR-V Hybrids are much more fuel efficient, which is par for the course with these models. All CR-V Hybrids are rated at 40 MPG/City, 35 MPG/Highway, and 38 MPG/Combined.
INTERIOR, SOLACE & BAGGAGE
The interior of the 2022 CR-V can be described in a multitude of ways: Tasteful, Stylish, and Comfortable. Although those moving from previous models might find the same-ish interior quite dull. Honda definitely did not skimp out on the materials, as the quality is much more premium when compared to its predecessors. The Touring model is the best-looking of all, incorporating many different high-quality materials to its design. Faux-wood stylings, chromed plastic elements, and a finish of brushed-satin have all upscaled it’s design aesthetics.
The front seats are quite comfortable, fitting to the proportions of the riders. Staring from the EX model, the front seats come with heating capabilities. The EX-L and Touring models take this further with Leather-trimmed seating all throughout. The front passenger seats for these 2 models also come with 4-way Power Adjustment. Passenger capacity for the Honda CR-V stands at 5. Though this is standard for many compact SUVs, the CR-V leads the charge when it comes to its cargo capacity. The cargo volume of the non-hybrid CR-V comes up to 39.2 cubic feet with the rear seats are deployed. It goes up to 75.8 cubic feet when the rear seats have been folded. The Hybrid models have slightly less space at 33.2 cubic feet with the seats deployed, and 68.7 cubic feet with the seats folded.
TECHNOLOGY
For infotainment, the CR-V comes with either a 5-inch LCD Screen or a 7-inch Touchscreen Display depending of the model. It comes integrated with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and SiriusXM satellite radio capabilities. The LX comes standard with a 4-speaker sound system, with the EX and Special Edition bumping it up to a 6-speaker system. Lastly, the EX-L is equipped with a 8-speaker sound system. All other models aside from the LX comes with USB Charging Ports. The Touring model differs in some features with its navigation system, Premium 9-speaker sound system with Subwoofer, and even wireless charging capabilities.
SAFETY
All models of the CR-V come with a whole suite of driver-assistance features and technologies. These include automated braking systems, road departure mitigation, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist systems, a forward collision warning, and lane departure warning. rearview cameras are also available on all models, with the LX lacking Dynamic Guidelines for parking. Honda offers a competitive plan for both the limited and powertrain warranties. However, they do not offer any plan for complimentary scheduled maintenance.
